Safe Searching for Teachers and Lecturers

This is an 'Open Twilight Session' for Teachers and Lecturers to help them with resolving the issues around searching of pupils and students following the government’s recent announcement of additional powers to search for items of property considered unsuitable or illegal for bringing into school or college.

The legislation requires that if you are searching your students you need two things, first of all authorized by your Head/Principal, and secondly trained to search. This course deals with the second of those requirements.

The Course Learning Outcomes are

At the end of the course the delegates will be able to...

  • Understand the law in relation to conducting searching of people.
  • Conduct a search safely.
  • Explain how to identify triggers in conflict situations.
  • Identify ways to overcome the triggers.
  • Demonstrate dis-engagement techniques.

This is a very practical programme offering simple easy to practice solutions for potentially difficult and dangerous situations.
